What’s Vote Local Day?

A nonpartisan FREE virtual event providing information, knowledge, and tools, so you can make informed decisions that positively impact your community and be ready to vote in local races. Vote Local Day is also about uplifting the stories hope and progress in our own backyards.

Local leaders and change makers will share these stories through short conversations & trainings exploring the intersections of electeds' jobs, issues like reproductive justice, education & voting access, and, how we can shape the communities and democracy we want to be a part of.

Why Vote Local Day?

  • 4 in 10 say not knowing the role of Secretary of State or State Attorney General prevents them from voting

  • 33% admit to guessing at random when voting on down-ballot races

  • 36% say they have left the bottom portion of their ballot blank when voting

Every person deserves to know the role their Secretary of State plays in determining how we vote, the Mayor & City Council's responsibility to protect reproductive access, and why prosecutors’ jobs determine how criminal cases begin and end.

In order for democracy to work, we have to know how and who makes it work.

And, while news outlets and pundits may try to make you believe that nothing is happening, the truth is, really good stuff is happening at the local level.

Let’s celebrate it, amplify it, learn from it, and use these stories to keep mobilizing and advocating for progress in our communities.

This is why Vote Local Day exists.

Our innaugural Vote Local Day took place on October 8, 2022.
