VOTING AS A COLLEGE STUDENT
2026 Key General Election Dates:
DID YOU KNOW?
If you’re a college student living in South Carolina while attending school in SC, you are eligible to register to vote in here using your college address.
***The deadline to register to vote in South Carolina online is Sunday, October 4th at 11:59pm and using a paper form is Monday, October 5th (postmarked). Voter registration deadlines are different in every state, these dates are specific to South Carolina.
WAIT … I CAN DO THAT?
College students attending school in South Carolina have a choice about where they register to vote! You may be eligible to register to vote using your college address in South Carolina - or remain registered in your home state (if outside of SC) or home county (if in SC but different county than where you go to school)!
If registering at your college address makes sense for you, that means you can:
LIVE HERE. REGISTER HERE.
VOTE HERE.
No Election Day road trip required!
WHY REGISTER HERE. VOTE HERE?
VOTE WHERE YOU ALREADY ARE - IT’S CONVENIENT!
No planning a trip home to cast your ballot. Registering at your college may give you the option to vote early or on Election Day right where you’re already living. That means no extra gas money, no long drive or flight, and one less thing to figure out during a busy semester.
HAVE A SAY IN THE PLACE
YOU LIVE!
You don’t just go to school here - you live here, too. The people you elect to state and local offices make decisions that affect your life while you're in college — from housing and transportation to jobs, public spaces, education, and the cost of living.
Annoyed by lack of public transportation near your campus? Live off campus and wish rent was cheaper? Wouldn’t it be cool if there were more places to see your favorite band near campus? How great if your school had more money to fund something you really care about?
Those are all decisions state and local elected officials make that impact you while you are at school - and you deserve to have a choice and a voice in who is making those decisions for you and your friends.
WANT TO STAY REGISTERED AT HOME?
That's your choice, too! And the good news is: we can help make your voting plan easy and stress-free!
